Cash from ESOP - What would you do?

Post by jpdion » Mon Mar 12, 2018 1:42 pm

DW retired in December and is due the balance of her ESOP is June, which will be rolled over to Vanguard TIRA. The value is about 25% of our total tax deferred assets. My initial inclination is to rebalance our total portfolio to match our target asset allocation (50/40/10). Maybe dollar cost average? What would you do?

What "I" always do is lump in the money as soon as it becomes available.

It represents equity now (company shares), you should move it into the equity portion of your allocation immediately.

Okay, Thanks. Maybe I'll get lucky with a few down days when the cash comes in.
