Portfolio Allocation

Post by jammer45 » Sun Feb 11, 2018 1:22 pm

Hi All,

I'm looking for some help with my portfolio allocation. I have 1.6M in funds to allocate across 5 vehicles at Fidelity. Are there advantages in placing certain asset classes in the tax deferred v. non tax deferred vehicles? Most of the dollars are in the tax deferred plans below. Do you have reading you'd suggest on asset placement specifically?

Lastly, any suggestions on funds are welcome as well. Thanks for reading.

Agreed, very hard to read all those options with all of the extraneous information. Dates and returns are unnecessary. Expense ratios would be very helpful.

Otherwise -- pick funds with "Index" in the name. Bonds in pre-tax, equities in Roth, tax efficient Total Stock/Total International/tax exempt bonds in taxable. (See links already provided)

It's better to put bonds in tax-sheltered and if possible pre-tax instead of Roth. Stocks can go anywhere.
Lastly, any suggestions on funds are welcome as well.
You have a mess of numbers. The only information we need is the fund name, the ticker symbol if there is one, and most importantly the plan expense ratio. Everything else is irrelevant.
Retirement Contribution Plan Options - 260K
Without knowing the plan expense ratios the best options appear to be:
  • VANG INST INDEX PLUS (VIIIX) -- Large caps, 80% of US stocks
  • BTC RUSSELL 2500 -- Mid/small caps, 20% of US stocks
  • BTC ACWI EX US IMI -- Complete international stocks
  • BTC US DEBT -- US bonds
Non Qualified Plan Options - 660K
Again, the best options appear to be:
  • VANG INST INDEX PLUS (VIIIX) -- Large caps, 80% of US stocks
  • BTC RUSSELL 2500 -- Mid/small caps, 20% of US stocks
  • BTC US DEBT -- US bonds
AF EUROPAC GROWTH R6 (RERGX) is a good international fund but it's usually expensive. Put your international in other accounts.
