Anyone else? Not a buyer or a seller today, but it is a bit unsettling to not be able to logon...

Vanguard is apparently getting crushed by client traffic. Just received multiple 500 server errors. While this instance may not be a specific problem for you right now, the fact that Vanguard has issues handling client traffic should be a general concern.

I can't get on either.
I'd gladly give back 0.01% in expense ratio to ensure that this doesn't happen.

I was able to get in and make contribution to ira’s and then it went down... pretty disappointing that they can’t handle a little panic trading and calls...

Or, in our cases, buying on a bad day.

same. it's kind of a big deal for all points of access to your trading platform to go down, regardless of crazy of a day it was. I'm sure there were a lot of people waiting until near the end of the day to put in their mutual fund buys.

The iPad app isn't working and it directs you to use vanguard.com

That isn't working either.

Frustrating.

Very Very frustrating.... I know it would never happen, but Vanguard should honor the prices from close today for like the first 10 minutes tomorrow.

I had every intention of going in and buying VTSAX. Awful customer service.

I just laughed out loud at this.

I just sent a few texts to friends and family to remind them not to panic and not to sell.

I'm also locked out of Vanguard btw.

I would bet traffic at Amazon.com was higher today and much higher on cyber Monday, and they didn’t crash. Pretty disappointing that VG can’t handle client traffic.

I'm probably not alone in being willing to pay a few basis points more in my VG funds if that meant that their website wouldn't crash during high-demand periods.

My biggest financial-related concern today is if Quicken will honor the 5-year free Premier subscription many of us signed-up for yesterday.

This was a good lesson for me today in a reason to consider multiple brokerages. I couldn't place an order with Vanguard, so I did it with my Schwab account instead. Something I'd never considered previously.

More like market reminding... noticed it was down, thought, hmm did I make my Backdoor Roth yet? Maybe I should make it and look for TLH opportunities today (no TLH for stocks, but small amount to TLH in bonds)

At any rate, still somewhat surprised and disappointed that VGG hasn’t designed platform for client volume.

What a joke Vanguard is. Can't even afford a computer system that works. I don't know about any of you but I have seen a continuous downgrade of caring about clients starting with Jack Brennan and then accelerating under Bill McNabb. Assets under management is all Vanguard cares about. Maybe Vanguard should use a little of the advertising budget to spend on a computer system.

I thought that since Vanguard is a fund company, most of its clients are Bogleheads, 401k participants, and institutions, who are generally holding assets long term and do not, or cannot, buy and sell like they are on a trading platform, so they should not be panic buying (I can imagine some Bogleheads will enjoy buying at a discount, but not enough of them to crash everything) or selling. Thus, who are the people who are causing the site to crash? Is it the ETF crowd?

What an embarrassment for Vanguard. If they're going to be boasting about the trillions of dollars invested with them, they probably should make sure they can handle that traffic when the rubber hits the road. I was trying to log in to buy, and couldn't. I'm VERY annoyed, and might need to take my investments elsewhere.

You already can in that you can buy their ETFs at a better brokerage. I'm sure there are still a few brokerages with Vanguard ETFs on their commission-free list.

I'm sure many here are reluctant to admit they were doing some reallocation towards the end of the "trading day". I did want to transfer (convert) some funds from IRA to Roth IRA. Unfortunately, I received server error messages and could not access my accounts. I also tried calling and could not get through. First time I can remember this happening :annoyed

I wasn't planning on doing any trading today, but I find it utterly incomprehensible that some folks would make light of an entire platform going down and people being unable to place orders. That's not acceptable on any day. But sure, lolz panic trading

Yes, it doesn't raise one's confidence in Vanguard's operations. I wonder if any other platforms went down today.
