Spoke with Vanguard today about managed account

Post by boyntonstu » Fri Jan 12, 2018 12:12 pm

These are the details for a conservative portfolio:

50K Minimum for managed account and you will get Admiral shares (0.3% management fee)

They recommended a "Conservative" 40:60 AA using the following portfolio.

They would balance the portfolio if any fund is off by 5%.

What do you do to re-balance to avoid the .3%?

Most on here just rebalance on their own.

If you are in the accumulation phase, rebalance with new contributions.

If you are in the withdrawal phase, rebalance with your withdrawals.

If things get too out of whack, rebalance within a tax advantaged account(s).

Rebalancing does not need to occur very often.

Welcome :D

Unclear question. Vanguard's .3% AUM fee includes portfolio maintenance. How would the fee be avoided otherwise?
Rebalancing is not done very often, maybe 1x/year or less.
Prior posters have great advice. Rebalance as they note.

VPAS services are outstanding and very very low cost. There's no contract. You can let them set everything up then cancel at some point when you feel comfortable managing the portfolio yourself.

ERROR!!!

I typed before looking at their following page.

Their AA was in the 4 "fund groups", but not in 4 single funds.

Sorry for my error.

Just Curious
40/60 Sounds like Vanguard Conservative Growth.
No management fee.
Other Than Expense Ratio.
It has worked and continues to work for me :happy

Yes. It's a great route. DW likes the simplicity and "sleep factor".
I thought you also had the "W's"? (wellesley/wellington) )
