Long Term Care insurance - transfer from annuity IRS 1035 exchange
Have been reading up on Long Term Care insurance.
One area that was mentioned by my insurance agent is the IRS 1035 exchange/transfer from an annuity to pay LTC premiums..
https://www.kiplinger.com/article/insur ... nsura.html
so much to read about - and all the puzzle pieces to decide if we even want :
A - an annuity of any kind - SPIA or variable
B - LTC insurance
C - how to blend the 2 policies together

It would be better if you combined your 4 simultaneous posts regarding LTC into one post. It would make for a better use of responders time and reduce wasted energy by many.

Re: Long Term Care insurance - Lincoln MoneyGuard II
Reference the Lincoln only: It is normally a bad idea to combine different types of policies such as life insurance and LTC insurance.
This allows the agent to hide the commissions that he earns and makes the combined policy harder to understand.
Also, if you find that you no longer need one of the types of insurance, you will be hesitant to cancel because you still need the other type.
I am cautiously in favor of both types of insurance in the right circumstances, but not combined.

So what is the general feeling and discovery about LTC ?
I think my wife's parents had something set up with John Hancock - but
A - father was suddenly ill and died
B - mother had colon cancer, and was in an assisted care facility for a couple of years
Not only is it a coin toss on getting any kind of LTC policy - but then the jungle of options ....
