It took quite a while for me to hear from her.
I had actually given up, and then... suddenly the nice pdf attachment.

But perhaps she was on vacation. And there was no rush.

Well, obviously you aren't Santa. But perhaps someone will purchase it with the proceeds going to a very worthy cause. That is a very nice offer as the doll has sentimental value to you as you know Jack Bogle personally. My Christmas budget is much less than $5,000. My family members probably won't pony up for me. I have been good this year but not $5,000 good.

The tan hats were a short supply? A limited run? That means I can sell the one I have for a higher price (if I can get someone to offer more), right? If there's only so many of the tan hats available my tan hat should be worth as much (or more) than bitcoin!! There's 21 million bitcoins in total but less tan Vanguard hats!! (if only there's a market for them).

and thanks Miriam2. I updated the post title as suggested.

Yesterday, Vanguard posted a photo of their mug on Facebook and everyone asked where to get it and their social media person said to send a private message to Vanguard get one.

If you "like" or add Vanguard on Facebook you can then send them a private message with your name and address.

Fingers crossed I get a mug!

The first rule is don't tell people about your investments.
The second rule is don't tell people about your investments.

Maybe I'm paranoid and overly cautious, but anything with even the name of one of my financial institutions gets shredded.

Sure, if a someone I trust asks for advice or recommendations, I'll mention Vanguard... But I do not feel the need to wear a Vanguard hat, have a Vanguard cup at the office, or put a Vanguard bumper sticker on my car.

Here's the mug:

Considering the above comments, it would be nice if Vanguard gave each of its Flagship clients one of these small items as a gift every year or so. I don't know what that would cost, but if Vanguard is giving away coffee mugs to random people who ask for one, surely Vanguard has the budget to give something to its "better" clients.

To that end, if anyone from Vanguard is monitoring this thread, I'd appreciate a Vanguard baseball hat. I've got a small head, so one of those "one-size-fits-all" type with a Velcro fastener in the back would be great. I presume that you've already got my mailing address....

In addition to the recent posts about getting the mug via Facebook link...just yesterday I spoke to Connie and ordered a couple of items. She could not have been more nice...immediately asked "are you one of the Bogleheads?" She gets calls every week apparently...from all over. Looking forward to wearing my hat with pride!

Hi Taylor -

Have the Bogleheads or The John C. Bogle Center for Financial Literacy ever considered selling bobbleheads to raise money to support the mission?

Just wanted to update that I tweeted Vanguard and they do not have plans to launch an official store online at this time. Connie was great though in getting me a coffee mug!

Sorry about that :P
Considering the above comments, it would be nice if Vanguard gave each of its Flagship clients one of these small items as a gift every year or so. I don't know what that would cost, but if Vanguard is giving away coffee mugs to random people who ask for one, surely Vanguard has the budget to give something to its "better" clients.

To that end, if anyone from Vanguard is monitoring this thread, I'd appreciate a Vanguard baseball hat. I've got a small head, so one of those "one-size-fits-all" type with a Velcro fastener in the back would be great. I presume that you've already got my mailing address....
The irony that that you publish this under the username "Random Poster" :D
How many Random Posters could there be? They’ll figure it out.
Well, thanks to a certain Bogleheader (who will remain nameless to protect their privacy) and someone from Vanguard who apparently saw my post, I did, in fact, receive a Vanguard baseball hat.

The one I received is gray, with gray embroidery, apparently made by Callaway. The embroidery is a tad hard to make out, particularly from a distance---it sorta blends in to the body of the hat like the beige hat posted earlier in this thread. But the hats fits and my wife says that it looks good on me, so I'm happy with it. Plus, because I wear a hat everyday as I walk to work, it will get put to good use.

So thanks Vanguard for giving me the hat (and thanks to the Bogleheader who passed along my contact information)!

That stinks! I was hoping they would relaunch the online store and expand the offerings.

Is there any update to Vanguard launching their online store?

Thinking of getting my annuitty salesman brother in law a Vanguard mug for the holidays. When he receives it I'll mention to him to bring it to work.

I know some folks that talk about starting to make a really nice income in the last few years and who are annuity salesmen. Is your brother in law making a really nice income? I would think that if you can find people to buy your annuities with free dinners and whatever that you could make a nice living from annuity sales. I heard of someone buying 900K worth of annuities from one of our local salesman. If the commission was 6 percent that is a nice slug of cash!

He may not want to bring the mug to work. :happy

I was kidding around. :)

Yes I assume he is doing very well based on his material status. I always have a new toy to play with when we visit for the holidays.
