Owning the same ETF in Roth IRA & Taxable Account?

Post by TheCudder » Thu Dec 07, 2017 9:14 am

Is there any negative impact, specifically from a tax perspective, to holding the same ETF in a Roth IRA and a Personal Taxable account?

Reason I ask is because I'm holding VIT in m ROTH IRA, but I also wanted to get more VIT in my Personal Taxable account.

Not a probably for me. I own VTI is several accounts including taxable and Roth.

If I ever sell VTI to harvest losses in my taxable account, then I must make sure I do not create a wash sale by a purchase in my Roth IRA, but that is trivial to do.
