Bogleheads,

If anyone is interested in reading on real estate and REITs, www.reit.com offers a bimonthly magazine that is informative.

Best.

It is clear: This magazine is not in demand or popular with Bogleheads. Sometimes no responses provides the information or verification one is looking for.

Best.

Love the idea of REITs, no tax-free space for them : (

I would rather own the "real thing".
IE: Land, buildings, high rises, apartments, etc.
:D

Do you invest in real estate directly?

Yes. For many many decades. Primarily residential multi-unit housing and R/E development. Owner/developer.
As many here have said. It is a full time business and prosperous if done well. By no means passive nor stress free.
I have been fortunate. :D

Wow - I didn't realize that Vanguard Reit funds are many many times higher than their closest competitors.
The chart was illuminating. Plus the expense ratios of many of the funds were 2 and even 3%

If I wanted a REIT magazine I would just read Seeking Alpha.com.

I do not read "Seeking Alpha". Is this something you recommend?

Always got the impression seeking alpha was click bait. Maybe just the articles from them that wind up on Google Finance...

I read seeking alpha. There are a couple good authors in the REIT space.

However, there is a lot of rubbish to wade through before you find any gems.

I would not recommend for most bogleheads.

I own a couple of rentals right now. I'm also undergoing a major rehab that will add nicely to my net worth.

REIT Magazine has been redesigned with the current month issue. The main article is related to the American Tower REIT with a $60 Billion market capitalization.

If interested it can be viewed on the website.

I hold FREL in my Fidelity Core 4 (+1) port and 5 out of my 15 stocks are REIT's in my Divi stock port in Roth.
I also read Seeking Alpha but there's a lot of trash to get to the few gems.

I received my first issue a few days ago.

Pretty interesting reading, all in all. Real estate market is really changing with hedge funds snapping up so many single-family homes.

I have a small holding in Vanguard REIT Index ETF (VNQ) I have had for a long time. No intention to sell. No plan to buy more, either.

I'm always interested in learning more about investment vehicles, so perhaps I'll learn more about REITS from the magazine.
