Another backdoor ROTH question

Post by abkm » Wed Dec 06, 2017 10:37 am

Hi everyone, quick background - I did backdoor ROTH for the first time for the year 2015 in Feb 2016. I opened new Traditional IRA account and converted that to ROTH through Vanguard. I was not able to do any IRA contributions for the year 2016. Now I want to do IRA contribution for 2017. My question is - Can I use my existing Traditional IRA and Roth IRA accounts at Vanguard to do the backdoor ROTH. If yes then are these the correct steps:
- From traditional IRA "Buy and Sell" menu; "Contribute to IRA".
- From traditional IRA "Convert to Roth IRA"; "Convert to existing ROTH account".
