Thank you livesoft!

Livesoft is an awesome poster here.
He has a unique way of looking at things and expresses them very well.
He often makes me laugh.
He has helped me with my marriage, children, job, neighbors, pets, cars, exercise, travel, houses, finances (well, it IS a financial website, so I guess that's a given).
He has even made me a better driver.
He's made me a better person.
Thanks, Livesoft!

That's right. This is not actionable. Although 49,950 posts of his (or her) are about RBDs, I am still not convinced to do anything about it!livesoft wrote:No, I don't feel the excitement. Please lock this thread and no more comments about this.

Since joining the forum this summer I have wondered what drives the 5 digit posters. 50,000 posts is over 14 per day. Of course, one good argument is worth 50 posts alone.
Re: livesoft is almost at 50,000 posts...
Livesoft has provided an incredible amount of sound investing advice over the years. He also has challenged investors to do their own research and reach their own conclusions. In addition, he has a great sense of humor. This guy is golden.

Agree with kudos. Have to admit my favorite livesoft response, to the post about trimming nose hairs, an important topic. He said something like you're supposed to be trimming those hairs when driving car and stopped at stoplight, that's what he sees all the time. Let's get another 50k of his responses. And I got this in before the lock.

Just do it at stoplights like the nose trimmers.

We have that: since funds are run at-cost at Vanguard, It's called convincing more people to invest in Vanguard funds, specifically the ones you use. It would be interesting to ballpark a figure for what the cost per hour to do so is though. Obviously, it is unlikely to be worth it for that end alone.davidsorensen32 wrote:We need a points system that we can redeem for further discounts of our ERs.

Re: livesoft is almost at 50,000 posts...
If I were a finance professor, I'd probably make my students read 100 of his posts a week and quiz them.
It's amazing what I've learned from livesoft over the years. I'm pretty sure I can give him credit for my enthusiasm when it comes to losing money (TLH) and my lack of fear in realizing gains (because I have huge loss reserves). I also dropped my Roth 401K contributions a few years ago thanks to his sage advice and became more aware of the fact that I will likely pay very little taxes in retirement.
And last year when I was interested in donating to charity for a particular cause, I used the Bogleheads search function (he would be proud) to see if there were any prior discussions on this type of charity and sure enough he made a great recommendation on exactly the type of organization I was looking for.

I guess I just don't get it (or see it). Most of his/her posts seem to me to be short, sarcastic posts not in depth detailed helpful posts that this forum is known for. Just my two cents.

With Diet Dr Pepper, otherwise the oatmeal would taste terrible, not be sweet enough, and not have any caffeine.

I hope that Livesoft reserves his 50,000th post for this very thread, to talk about achieving 50,000 posts. That would be very meta.

I've gained many pearls from livesoft on this forum, but wanted to share my favorite:
Save time by putting school clothes on your children the night before.
My wife thought I was crazy at first, until she witnessed how much easier it is than struggling with a toddler who does not want to get dressed in the morning and go to preschool. And baths are at night anyway, so the clothes are clean in the AM.
Thank you livesoft!
