The easiest thing to tell you is to ask at the front desk.

I'm sorry I'll miss this time.

Once you get to the North Royalton Library, we will be in one of their four meeting rooms. It is pretty easy to find us in the library. If you have any problems - ask the librarian. If you need directions to the North Royalton Library - let me know. Bob in Berea already provided lots of good info.

+1 on when is the next meeting? My dad lives in the area still and I would like to pass along the information. Looks like recent meetings were close to his location based on a brief glance, brecksville and n royalton.

The NE Ohio group will meet on Oct 10 at the North Royalton Library at 10am. The topic will be Bonds. I will not be able to attend but I am sure the meeting will be interesting. How can bonds not be interesting especially in the current low interest rate environment?

NE Ohio Chapter is having its Dec meeting this Saturday - Dec 12. It will be at the North Royalton Library (the usual place) at 10am. Our topics will be a discussion of the John Bogle presentation from the National Bogleheads meeting as well as discussion of a recent 12 min John Bogle video. Both have lots of interesting information and I think the discussion will be enjoyable.

For planning purposes, the next meeting will be Feb 13.

Hope to see all the regulars there and new folks are always welcome.

It looks like the weather here in Cleveland will be cold tomorrow - but very little snow will fall. So, therefore we will have our meeting at the North Royalton Library at 10am. Wear your warm jacket and come out and join us if you can. See post above for more details.

The NE Ohio chapter meeting is Saturday, April 9 at 10am at the North Royalton Library - as of now. However, if the weather gets bad - snowy and slippery, we will cancel. If the weather forecast looks bad for the morning, a posting of the cancellation will be on this forum by 8 pm tonite.

Topics are:

1. Tax efficient fund placement
2. Investment Policy Statements

Chris will be coordinating the presentation and discussion of these topics.

The weather forecast overnight into Saturday is not good. As many of you have to drive quite a distance to the North Royalton library, tomorrow's (4/16) meeting is being cancelled. The next meeting will be held on June 4, 10:00am, again at the North Royalton library. If there are any topics you'd like discussed at a future meeting, please submit your ideas.

Thanks,

I hope I'm not violating forum policy/etiquette with this post. Last meeting the idea was presented to have a book borrowing system where we'd lend books to each other and trust one another to return them. I noticed on Amazon that all the books listed as recommended reading have been greatly reduced in price, and if click on the link on the Boglehead main page a portion of the sale goes towards this site. Again I don't want to violate any forum policy but it is a good way to support this webpage.
Until October, :sharebeer

Just a reminder that our next meeting is Saturday, Oct 15 at the North Royalton Library at 10am (same place, same time).

Chris was kind enough to forward topics of interest from the last meeting for discussion at the October meeting.

-How to incorporate longevity into retirement financial planning and common assumptions made about lifespan
-Things to consider when planning your estate
-How to factor in current and future health care costs into a retirement plan
-Things to consider when shopping for life insurance and a review of different life insurance types
-What financial resources have proven to be helpful (podcasts, books, websites besides bogleheads)
-What is the single biggest factor in your investment success (LBYM, budgeting, buy and hold investing, time in the market, etc.)

Hope to see you there.

Our next Bogleheads meeting is Feb 11 at the North Royalton Library. Start time is 10am.

I thought we could gather some information on our group. On the forum there seems to be certain predominant personalities among Bogleheads, so I thought we could check our NE Ohio group. So if you would like to participate, go to the following web-site and take the personality test. Record your personality type and we will collect them anonymously - but total them to see the profile of our group. This could be a fun exercise. So the website is:

www.16Personalities.com

Also on the agenda is:

1. Brief discussion on inherited IRAs
2. Brief review of the Performance Report on Vanguard Funds
3. How to Fix a Tax Inefficient Portfolio
4. Protecting Financial Information

Hope to see you there. Remember, if the weather looks bad, check your e-mail the night before (Feb 10) after 8pm to see if the meeting is cancelled due to inclement weather.

https://youtu.be/iLJW70gjDFE While there was a focus on podcasts today I was curious if anyone had heard of Your Money, Your Wealth. They are two advisors who hosted radio show before starting a series on youtube. I think it's a good show for novice Bogleheads as they share the same philosophy and break topics down in a manner that is easy to understand, and there are episodes focusing on issues which become more relevant as one prepares to retire so there's a little something for everyone :beer

Dear NE Ohio Bogleheads,

Karen and Jim are traveling, so they will not be at our meeting tomorrow (August 12). Chris Bruns was going to lead a discussion on Medicare and other retirement issues, but he has to be out of town and will not be at the meeting either. I was one of the ones interested in the Medicare topic, because I hope to be on Medicare someday, but I'm not retired yet, and I'm in need of instruction and wisdom. Those of you who have waded through Medicare choices and challenges, please come ready to share your insights and stories!

Here are some conversation starters on Medicare and retirement generally:

1. What advice can anyone give about choosing a Medicare Advantage Plan? And/or a Medicare Part D Drug Plan?

2. For those on Medicare, what have been your challenges learning the process and managing your out of pocket expenditures? If you have significant out of pocket expenditures, how have you managed them?

3. Anyone with tales to tell about the "donut hole"?

4. For those not yet on Medicare, what plans are you making to cover any potential shortfalls in coverage?

5. For those who have retired, how did you decide that you had enough reserves?

6. For those who have been retired for several years, could you generally describe your spending compared to your working years? Is it higher or lower than your working years? Feel free to talk generally (not give specific amounts) about costs for housing, health care, vehicles, travel and leisure,

7. For those who are happily retired, what is the biggest factor that led to your happy retirement?

I look forward to hearing from you Medicare and retirement veterans tomorrow!

Cheers,

Bob Fowler (aka BobinBerea)
