Anyone in the New Orleans area?

Post by Kevinm1986 »

I know we have some Diehards with Louisiana ties, but is anyone else living in the New Orleans area/Southeast Louisiana/even Baton Rouge or coastal Mississippi? Just thought I'd start this thread to see if there's anyone nearby.

Looks like you've got five interested Diehards, which is enough to get a Diehards Local Chapter going. All I need is for one of you to volunteer to be the Chapter coordinator (that person doesn't have to be an investing guru. Rather they simply help plan the meeting dates and times and let the other members know.)

Once I have the name and contact information for the Chapter coordinator, I'll add your group and contact information to the Diehards Local Chapters Map so that others can find you. http://www.lostsprings.com/diehards/chapters/

You can use this sub-form to keep in contact with each other.

Good luck!

Regards,

Mel

Lots of interested Bogleheads in the NO area. Now all we need is for one of you to step forward and agree to be the chapter coordinator. Let me hear from you via PM or make a post here is you'll agree to function as the chaper coordinator.

I can't believe with all the expressed interest that no one is willing to step up to be the Local Chapter coordinator. Still waiting to hear from someone so you can get things started in the Big Easy.

Who will it be? Just PM me and you'll be in business.

Metry here too. Please join me in hoping we don't see oil wash up soon on Lake Pontchartrain. I have a great view of the lake- so far, still a lake.

With all this interest, I can't believe that no one will step forward and agree to be the Local Chapter coordinator (schedule meetings and communicate with the other members).

PM me if you're interested.

This thread hasn't seen any action in a long time. I am currently in Raleigh, NC and have been attending the RTP Bogleheads meetings. However, I am relocating to NOLA in August for graduate school. If there is not currently a chapter (doesn't look like it per the chapter list) and if there is any interest, I'll happily step forward to organize meetings. It may be a little more challenging for me as I will be relatively new to the area, although I have visited several times and have friends that are residents. I'm certain a meeting spot shouldn't be too hard to find. Our RTP group meets quarterly, is this standard for Boglehead groups or does it vary?

Cheers (or should I say, Santé),

Bill

Hi Bill:

Lots of interest in a NO chapter. If you'll agree to the the Local Chapter Coordinator, PM me with an email address you want to use for this purpose (I suggest you get a new one for this purpose. Since it will be public (listed on the Local Chapters Map), you don't want to use your primary email in case you get some spam. Once that's taken care of, I'll assign your group the next Local Chapter number and add your group to the Local Chapter Map and you'll be in business.

Looking forward to hearing from you. I know NO will be a great success!

I just sent Mel an email about this, but I would also be happy to organize these meetings. I'm a permanent resident down here. Please post on this thread or PM me if the NOLA people on this thread are still interested in participating in a chapter.
