Virtual chapter meeting presentations now in the blog

Post by LadyGeek »

Recorded videos and materials presented at the virtual chapter meetings can now be found in the Bogleheads blog.

See: Virtual online chapter presentations

You can find this page in the blog menu under Local chapters and events --> Virtual online meetings

I have added a link to this page in the blog's Calendar of Events (look under the calendar, first paragraph).

This material represents the efforts of not only the Bogleheads chapter leads who organize the meetings, but several key chapter leads who are editing and publishing the meeting videos.

If anyone has video editing experience and would like to help, please PM me.

The Pralana Retirement Calculator should be available within the next day or so.

Paul Merriman's video is in-process.

If anyone has chapter meeting material they'd like to add, please post here.

The blog has been updated to add Paul Merriman's presentation (We're Talking Millions) as well as the Pralana retirement calculator (presented 3/18/2021).

The blog has been updated with the "FI Calc Retirement Calculator" demo on May 3, 2021. See: Virtual online chapter presentations

The Bogle Center was kind enough to provide a SharePoint folder for archiving chapter files.* Why is that important?

Because it's a Microsoft product. When you click on the link, Microsoft supplies an Office viewer that will work for that file (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Google Drive can't do that. No additional software is needed.

I received Mike Piper's permission to upload his meeting files to SharePoint. The blog page now contains the SharePoint links.

Click on the Slides link in the 4/6/2021 meeting to see the file open in the Microsoft PowerPoint viewer.

The viewer will complain that you don't have permission to edit the file. That's fine, as the links are set to "Anyone with a link can view" - the same as Google Drive.

* Except for videos. The files are very large and we'll use YouTube.
