I would like to thank you all very much! Here's to helping others reach their financial dreams!

To the group: Anyone in the area interested in joining the meetings, or if you have someone who you think might be interested, please have them contact me. The more the merrier. Feel free to PM me or to contact me at Hersheybogleheads@gmail.com.

The plan is to have our first meeting in the Fall. This will give us some time to get our contact information together and have a good strategy for our first meeting.

Best wishes,
Dave

I've never been to a Bogleheads meeting. What do you guys do? Hershey seems to be the closest to me, but it's still pretty far (2h drive, and I don't own a car; I rent when I need a car). How do you have a meeting about passive investing?

We would be glad to have you attend.

Meetings can be varied as to topics, but tend to center around general investment strategies, retirement planning, personal finance goals, etc.

So yes, passive investment is certainly something discussed. As far as I'm concerned, our meetings should allow for open discussion on a multitude of ideas, and we as a group can determine what we would like to center on.

Topics for the meeting agenda will be discussed ahead of time, and those who have a paricular niche can be a valuable resource for the chapter.

If you would like to join the group, email me at Hersheybogleheads@gmail.com.

Best wishes,
Dave

Lol! that's a good Q - how do you have a meeting about passive investing :happy Here is what we do in South Florida, basically eat sandwiches and talk anything and everything investing, trying to help each other with our ideas and experiences - or mistakes we made. We have Bogleheads who drive 4 hours from Orlando to our meeting :!:

Here are two recent threads about creating and maintaining local chapters that might be useful.

Join the Hershey Bogleheads group this fall: Come join us as we embark on a new endeavor!

We are in the initial planning for our first meeting, which will likely be in November. In the upcoming month, we will select a date that will work for the group as well as a meeting place and time. I am look forward to us getting together for some lively discussion as we help one another work towards our goals. All are welcome!

Does the Hershey chapter exist or ever have meetings? I attempted to email Dave at HersheyBogleheads@gmail.com but the email was rejected. Either way, please let me know. Thanks!

I’d suggest that you PM UncleBogle and anyone else on this thread. But UB hasn’t been active since 2018.

Stinky, thank you for responding. I'm not sure why but the forum rules (or system) says I'm not able to PM anyone. I'm relatively new to Bogleheads.org, maybe that's why. Either way, I appreciate it.
