Happy Birthday to you Mr. Bogle. I was glad to see Warren Buffet give you a personal shout-out at Berkshire's annual meeting over the weekend - well deserved as a champion for the everyday investor.

Elke and I hope you had a wonderful birthday, Jack. The company that you created and the low cost investing revolution that you started will benefit generations yet to be born. What some derided as Bogle's Folly, Un-American and even Communist is actually free enterprise competition at its finest. Vanguard's competitors just didn't want the small investor to understand that, but we did and more understand it with every passing day. Thank you for giving so many of us a fair shake and keep spreading the word. Money isn't everything but it's right up there with oxygen. :D

Dear Mr. Bogle,

Many or all of the 25 active members of Bogleheads Local Chapter 61, meeting in Sacramento each month to discuss investing, indexing, personal finance and retirement, having been positively influenced by your work as an author & speaker or indirectly benefitted by way of the low fees charged by the company you shaped in its first decades, would like to express their deeply felt appreciation for the manner in which you've carried out your life's work.

Your accomplishments as chairman emeritus have begun to eclipse your work at Vanguard. As you have so often noted in speeches and in extemporaneous comments, you've been given much. Yet not everyone who has possessed your gifts and good faculties has worked as hard at giving back, striving to hold accountable those who exercise power or advantage over others, educating investors, speaking your mind... informed by your heart.

You've tried to make the world a better place and we are most grateful.

Thank you, Jack!

And from our balmy South Florida Local Boglehead Chapter, on the aquamarine shores of Biscayne Bay, we wish you the happiest of birthdays 8-)

Mr. Bogle, we also meet several times a year to talk anything and everything that is personal finance, Jack Bogle style.

Here is a photo of our last meeting - where we also celebrated Taylor Larimore's 93rd Birthday :D

I have so much to be thankful because of you Jack. Since 2004, I have saved so much portfolio expenses that I bought two new electric cars, solar panels on my house and a kitchen remodel. With the returns in the last ten years, I have spent tens of thousands writing and self-publishing with giving away two personal finance books to help my education colleagues avoid the sales force, traveling the world, volunteer work, giving to cancer-related causes and enjoying retirement immensely, even though I had a tragic loss of my hubby of 40 years 2.5 years ago. I have recovered and because of you, Jack, and the wonderful Boglehead community, I have the financial where with all to find the 2nd love of my life.
Happy 88th! Jack!

Sorry, but I need to point out that you should consider posting in this thread: Yes, I'm 89 all right! [Jack Bogle]
