Congrats to Laura Dogu

Post by Bill Bernstein » Fri Aug 07, 2015 11:55 am

who on 8/12 gets sworn in as the U.S. ambassador to Nicaragua.

I guess this might make it hard for her to attend the next several DH meetings!

Congratulations to Laura :D

I see from her bio that she speaks Spanish, Turkish and Arabic. What I noticed when she joined Bogleheads was her excellent command of written English, uncompromised even in this acronym-addicted net format.

I was honored to receive an invitation to her swearing-in ceremony in Washington.

While I've known about the appointment for some time, I'm happy to learn that she got the well-deserved quick approval by the Senate.

So now our Queen Laura is officially an Ambassador. Way to go Laura!

Just like everybody else, I too am surprised and pleased. I never knew an ambassador before.
When Dan, my hubby, and I talked with you about working for the state department at a reunion couple of years ago, I thought to myself that she will not get promoted because you made a little too much sense about other cultures and the world, which isn't always political especially in the state department.
Congratulations. The state department is going to be a little more effective with your presence.
