Livesoft - Thank you

Post by Streptococcus » Fri Oct 17, 2014 11:52 am

Okay, this thread is not really about investing but I wanted to acknowledge and thank Livesoft for what he/she does for this forum. There are quite a few people who make this forum great and Livesoft is one of them.

Thank you :beer
I guess admin is going to lock this one up.

Probably not lock it up as much as move it to the BH Community forum.
And yes, Livesoft is OK...

I agree with Strep. And, he is sufficiently amusing that even when I don't particularly care about the topic, I'll read his comments because, ... well, just because.

livesoft is my favorite poster, he and I are much more similar than dissimilar in investing outlook and mantra. I would have more than one :beer with him. I do appreciate some sarcasm applied with advice, too, so sscritic rates highly with me as well. :moneybag

You are welcome. Thanks back to everyone else, too. Many folks contribute to the success of the forum, so don't forget to thank them as well.

I really appreciate the thanks, but let's get back to whatever we were doing before this thread showed up. :)

I find Livesoft to be much too timid and too reluctant to express his true feelings and beliefs.

NOT!

Thanks for all your contributions to this forum - and for prodding us to THINK and LEARN.

Yes, hats off to Livesoft, especially like reading his "how to pay little or no taxes if you make $200K and above" posts and also the ones banging the drum on how cheap International, especially VSS is right now. :D Oops, almost forgot about his RBD posts. :greedy

Likewise. I echo the gratitude expressed by others to those who have shared their experience within this forum.

I read this forum almost everyday. Not only for the sound financial advice offered but also for various other aspects generally concerning livelihood. The folks here are generous, willing to share their experiences, without expecting anything in return. Truly altruistic.

I've modeled my own retirement portfolio based on Robert. T's.

I'm indebted to this forum forever.

Thank you, all.

I was recently attending a meeting in Old Windsor, UK. The conference center was quite expensive, and I found a cheaper Inn 1.5 miles away. I posted a question about it, and Livesoft responded with a recommended walking route between the Inn and the conference center. Livesoft's recommendation helped me to decide to stay at the Inn. For three days, I was taking the walk recommended by Livesoft, which was very enjoyable. Thanks!

Appreciate all your postings Livesoft. Enjoy reading your posts, very practical, with thoughtfulness.

I have been to this site for a couple of years ago, got my mind in the Booglehead philosophy, asked a few questions, and said to myself Okay I got what I do need to know, nothing much for me in this site.

However return to this site everyday to browse the postings. Always my eyes glances over to see what did "livesoft" say today.

Planning to see if I can read all of Livesoft postings from the last couple of years. Do not know how I can search for that ?
It would be truly amazing.

Appreciate other contributors, my eyes glances over Taylor_Larimore, Rick_Ferri, larryswedroe, LadyGeek, VictoriaF, Professor Emeritus, Mel Lindauer, etc.
All are great contributors, to new boogleheads, but sorry boring to many of us, you are here for more than a year!. Please keep up the great contributions

In my opinion VictoriaF leads the pack after Livesoft ! in humor, thoughtfulness and freshness for the day.
Other honorable mention for the freshness are YDNAL, ruralavalon, nisiprius, retiredjg, sscritic

In my experience with sscritic PM's, it is not a case of "Say the *right* thing and you might get a PM," but rather "Say the wrong thing and you might get a PM," as he sometimes sends me a PM when he disagrees with something I have written in a post (e.g., pointing out an exception or technical oversight on my part.) So if you are not hearing from him, maybe it's because he agrees with everything you write? :happy

To return to the original topic of thanking livesoft, I will add my own special note of thanks for his awesome advice/guidance four months ago when I was feeling indecisive and overwhelmed about my first computer purchase since 1982. I *love* my MacBook Pro. It does everything I need it to better than I could have imagined. Mathematica and LaTeX (my two primary applications) both run like a dream on it. And as an unexpected bonus, my electricity bills have gone down significantly because I no longer turn on the big screen monitors my late husband had connected up to various computers stationed all over the house. I just bring my handy instant-gratification laptop to wherever I want to be working in the house. And it is lightweight enough for me to carry very comfortably in a padded backpack across a vast university campus (where I often have to park a long distance from where I am going.)

The two rows for Taylor are due to glitches encountered when we updated the forum software back in late 2011 (format conversion problem). If the software wants to give two rows for Taylor, who's to argue? :)
