Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
Great idea! I'm in!
Would still love live meetings as well, cause it's nice to meet great local likeminded people.
The creativity and community of people in the Boglehead community is amazing, and something I am proud to be a part of.
Someone mentioned livestreaming the annual event as well. T
This would be a fabulous idea to include many more people.

Hi, I am definitely interested as well, will shoot you an email, however is it possible to do this at the annual conference so that those who were not able to go can listen in on some of the segments? Even if there is a small fee, might be of interest to make it worthwhile? Thanks.
Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
The Boglehead Conference videos are online right here in the wiki, usually posted within days of the conference.amindu wrote: ↑Hi, I am definitely interested as well, will shoot you an email, however is it possible to do this at the annual conference so that those who were not able to go can listen in on some of the segments? Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
Attended my first virtual Bogleheads meeting. So much better than driving 45 minutes or more each way to a physical meeting.
Would like to thank David for presenting Can I retire? A simple evaluation with “Stages of Retirement".
Well thought out plan. Learned about some techniques to look at that were probably on the site at one time but missed by me.
The most profound point was how Boglehead techniques can be simple, effective and teachable.
Thanks again to David Jay and Manny (lazylarry)

Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
Hey folks!
Excited to announce our next presentation. Hope to see everyone there! We will have a well known discussant on the bogleheads forum - sscritic will be presenting "You Too Can Read Official Documents” on Tuesday June 25th at 8pm EST. The topics will encompass a variety of nuances/common misconceptions about common investment processes and vehicles, e.g. required withholding on IRA/401k withdrawals or who can open a traditional IRA. While not as general as our typical topics, I think these might be valuable specific insights from a speaker with a great deal of knowledge who uses evidence-based sources such as IRS publications.
If you are interested in joining the group, email me at virtualbogleheads@gmail.com.
Thanks!
Manny

Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
Thanks to everyone for organizing the latest Virtual On-Line meeting. It was quite helpful in learning how to more accurately read the IRS documents, and to find the right publications in the first place. Many good tips.
Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
I enjoyed and appreciated the presentation by sscritic and would like to thank Manny for his organizing the meeting.
And Miriam did ask a very good question and I learned something from sscritic’s reply.

Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
Anyone knows if meetings for this online chapter are still on? I haven't seen announcements in a while and so wondering.
Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
Hey sorry, I've been slacking off. But yes, would folks be interested in a regular meeting?
I'm thinking if I set some dates (e.g. every 3 months) then I'll be more likely to stick to it:
How about:
4/7 @ 8pm
7/14 @ 8pm
10/6 @ 8pm
12/15 @ 8pm
All eastern standard time
If folks are interested, I'll set these up, and we could do meetings. Anybody interested in presenting? We could do a coronavirus topic (or something non-coronavirus to get people's mind off of it)?

Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
I'm in for the next meeting Tuesday 21Apr at 8:00 Eastern time.
I'd like to know what schedule folks are following for rebalancing right now. What is in your ISP, and have you changed your schedule and why?
If we have newbies, we could discuss the method we use to rebalance. This seems to be a perennial question for newer Bogleheads.
This time I'm in a similar time zone, so I should have no problem attending!

Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
Just a reminder of the below and for new members:
It's been a while, but excited to announce our next presentation. Hope to see everyone there! We don't have a presenter, so I'll likely end up presenting a small part on one of the below topics and we could have a general Q&A for the senior members. I would love it someone would be willing to present (something), particularly regarding one of the below topics which were suggested by members - please email me! Even just talking about this without a powerpoint would be helpful.
1) Roth conversion when you are in your early sixties and also trying to keep your income low for the maximum subsidy via the A.C.A. and what a breakeven analysis would look like, lots of moving pieces to consider.
2) what schedule folks are following for rebalancing right now. What is in your ISP, and have you changed your schedule and why?
3) Bill Bernstein - Risk
4) reassessing asset allocation during bad bear markets
Meeting time: Tuesday April 21st at 8pm Eastern time
Email me at virtualbogleheads@gmail.com if you are interested and I'll send out another email blast with information on Sunday!

Hello! Is this online chapter actually a thing? I'd love to join, but I'm guessing I'm a about a week too late.
Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
Wanted to let folks know of the next meeting for Tuesday August 18th 2020 at 8pm Eastern Time- sorry for the short notice but hopefully folks will be able to attend.
I'm very excited about the next topic as its an important one and hasn't been talked about much on the virtual meetings!
Arun has graciously volunteered to present on International investing, including:
- Why do it?
- Why do some people avoid it?
- How much allocation?
- Points to ponder
Please email me if you have any questions or would like to participate (virtualbogleheads@gmail.com)! Also, feel free to visit our blog (in my signature) which has resources and past presentations.
Thanks,
Manny (lazylarry)

Would like to thank Arun for an informative presentation and Manny for setting up the meeting. Besides the in depth technical details, the most important take-away for me was the additional diversification available.

Re: [Virtual online chapter - Master thread]
Hi folks,
Hope everyone is doing well! Had a great meeting last time with Paul from Vanguard. I did want to let everyone know, with the advent of so many local chapters going virtual (with many excellent presentations), I was going to focus use of our group to let folks know about potential other meetings on a bimonthly basis. Once (hopefully soon) things are back to normal, we would resume virtual meetings.
In that vein, I wanted to let everyone know about a Life Stages (see more here:viewtopic.php?f=9&t=344607) meeting for individuals in the "Starting Out" phase. The "Starting Out" Life Stage mission: is to provide education and discussion on investing and personal finance topics geared towards novice investors of any age and young investors just getting started with their finances and careers.
The first speaker for the "Starting Out" phase is Mike Piper, the author of several personal finance books as well as the popular blog ObliviousInvestor.com. Will definitely be a great introductory presentation, so hopefully will see everyone there!
Meeting time: Tuesday Apr 6, 2021 8:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
If you are interested in joining the virtual bogleheads group and/or this meeting , please email me at virtualbogleheads@gmail.com
Thanks!
