Hong Kong Bogleheads?

Post by rainyday1 » Sat Feb 23, 2013 4:17 pm

This should probably be in the local chapters section, but I wanted people to see it...

I know there are a few of you out there. Do you have chapter meetings? Crazy place to be a Boglehead...

Thanks,
rainyday

I am at HK! Few HK bogleheads here. And no chapter as far as I know.

I'm in HK as well and would be happy to communicate/meet with fellow Bogleheads!

We do have a Taiwan Local Chapter but not in HK (yet). If you can get a couple more folks who want to get a HK Local Chapter started and one of you volunteers to be the coordinator, simply PM me with your name and contact info and I'll set your Local Chapter up and add it to the Local Chapters Map so others can find you.

Good luck!

@Mel thanks! If there seems to be a bit of interest via comments in the next few days we could certainly look into it!

I live close by and make a trip every 90 days to Hong Kong to reset my visa entry. If a chapter meeting happens to coincide, I'd be happy to drop by.

It appears there's enough interest to get a Hong Kong Local Chapter going. If someone will agree to be the Local Chapter Coordinator, let me know via PM an I'll get your chapter up and running and add your group to the Local Chapters Map so others can find and contact you.

We've got more than enough interest to start a Bogleheads Local Chapter in Hong Kong. All we need now is for one of you to step up and agree to the the Chapter coordinator. The Coordinator simply communicates with the other members regarding meeting dates, times, locations and agendas; he/she doesn't have to be an investing guru.

Who's going to step up and PM me that they've agreed to the the coordinator?

Thanks for stepping up, youcha. Here's what I'll need from you:
1. Your first name
2. An email address that you'll use for this specific purpose. Suggest you get something like HongKongBogleheads@google.com. Since it will be public, you don't want to use your personal email address.

Once you provide me with that information, I'll get your Hong Kong group established and add your group and contact information to the Local Chapters Map so others can find you.

Thanks for stepping up and agreeing to be the Coordinator for the new Hong Kong Bogleheads Local Chapter. I'll add your group and contact info to the Local Chapters Map so others can find you.

You can use this sub-forum to communicate with your Hong Kong members.

FYI, there s also a group in Taiwan.

Good luck, HK Bogleheads!

The first HK Bogleheads meeting is confirmed !

Wednesday (19th April), 7:30 pm @ Little Creatures, Kennedy Town. (https://www.openrice.com/en/hongkong/r- ... rn-r498534)

We should hopefully be >= 3 which is not too bad given the short notice.
Anyway, I will be there for a beer for whoever wanna join.

I also sent a PM for all the intervenants of this thread to give you my whatsapp number.
If you reply, you will be among the lucky first joiner of our Whatsapp HK bogleheads group which I think is much better for organisizing the meetings.

We can keep the forum for more technical / deep discussions.

Hope to see you all soon,

Youssef

Hello. Not new to HK, but new to passive index fund investing. Are there still people from this form who are based in Hong Kong?
