Thank you, moderators!

Post by Stinky »

I spent some time on Facebook this morning.

What a mistake! With all that’s going on in the world - elections upcoming, virus reopening debates, etc. - there is such anger and bitterness on Facebook.

This Forum continues to be a great place to exchange ideas and to learn new things. Our moderators work tirelessly to keep the politics, religion, and (most) rancor out of the Forum.

Thank you moderators!

You all create serenity in an otherwise chaotic internet.

Now, let's all talk about politics to divert the initial post :D :P :happy

Thanks again for making this such a sane and safe site to visit!

If a FB group or online forum is not well moderated, only the people on the extremes will want to contribute. Agree that the moderators on this forum keep it a welcoming place. Thank you.

Y'all can be a bit strict at times, but you've cultivated a fantastic discussion space. I've honestly found myself struggling with an addiction to these forums.

Thank you so much, admins, mods, staff, and everyone else that keeps this community ticking!

I rarely go onto Facebook, but I ventured there this morning.

At the top of my Facebook feed was a request by my local municipality to the governor to allow local businesses to reopen. That simple request generated over 100 responses, on both sides of the issue, and many of the responses were just flat out ugly.

It was then that I was reminded how much I prefer Boglehead Forum to Facebook.

I said something that someone interpreted differently than what I intended in the early days of internet forums. His/her insult bothered me for a few days! It is nice to have the moderated forum so that I don't need to put on a fireproof suit to discuss investing!

I would say this forum is very strict. Some people say too strict. But I welcome it. That's why it runs & operates so well. I don't always agree, but the results speak for themselves. I'm very happy to have found the BogleHeads forum. And happy to be here. Thank you all on the administration, moderating, support, advisory teams & whomever else I'm missing.

I heard on a radio show that if you think Facebook is bad, then Nextdoor.com says "hold my beer". I've been on Nextdoor. I have no comment...

Hi, my name is WoodSpinner and I am a BogleHead forum addict. I have not been clean and sober since discovery back in January 2017.

Totally agree. I also surf over to the FB and Reddit personal finance forums and really appreciate the moderators influence in keeping discussions on-track and actionable. I am also keenly aware of the quality of advice and discussion I normally find here.

I owe this forum and all quite a bit for the help and insights over the years.

So, thank you
