bogleheads server software update - June 9 at 3:00PM EDT [19:00 UTC]

Post by mingstar » Sat Jun 08, 2019 9:51 pm

Hi folks,

I need to apply some updates to the server software so I'm planning to take the site down on Sunday, June 9, at 3:00PM EDT

It should be pretty quick.

Bumping for visibility. This thread is visible in all forums, but is posted in the Forum Issues and Administration forum.

Bumping for visibility.

Although the outage is expected to be short, I've posted this before and will repeat it here:

For those composing long posts, it's good practice to save your work in a separate text editor (notepad.exe on Windows).

Not just for the site going offline, but to avoid losing your work if you accidentally close your browser.

An additional tip: Your browser saves what you type. If you hit "Submit" and lose your work, use your browser's "back" button. The content should be there. Then, save your post in a text editor for later use.
