Newbie/novice

What is the purpose of the above names? Who determines this status and don't you think that this type of classification is disrespectful to the poster?

This board is brand new. The board software defaults to terms like this which are common on discussion boards. The field is updated as post count changes. Other options are possible and no disrespect is meant.

Please allow the new administrators a few weeks to set the board appearance and policies.

Looks like the powers-that-be just disabled standard rankings like newbie/novice. How's that for rapid response? ;)

That's the advantage of having a community owned/moderated forum.

Gr8 job phoenix. Kudos for the wonderful work.

Actually, in this case it's a forum configuration option so it took maybe one minute to "fix." ;)

But yes, IMO the main advantage to this forum is that control now rests with people who both care about the community and who have the means to act in its best interests.
Gr8 job phoenix. Kudos for the wonderful work.

I don't care one way or another if my status shows. The truth is, all one has to do is look at the number of posts to get an idea of a person's status. Notice this is only my 3rd post.

Great Job removing newbie/novice

Post by tjwolf » Wed Feb 28, 2007 5:34 pm

Thanks for the rapid response! I had envisioned our forum status based on the number of posts submitted. As such, Mumchkin Man, Hocus, Taylor(Worldwide, 71220, etc) and others with cases of "keyboard diarrhea" occupying an exhaulted position such as "master investor", or similar.

To be fair to Munchkin Man, while each of his posts ran long, I don't think he had too many posts. So his count would still have been low.

The word "keyboard diarrhoea" cracks me up. :-)
