I would have thought you the expert here! The fact that you're asking rather suggests that the answer may be, No. :-)

We've used IBKR for 6 years. Very happy. BUT...you never know what's going to happen when these huge trade-block related financial bureaucracies change the rules.

The only other DECENT broker for us is Schwab International. We used them for 24 years before we switched to IBKR.

The problem with Schwab International is we must use USA domicled ETFs for the equity allocation. FI is limited to DIRECT US treasuries and brokered CDs in order to not pay the 30% tax on interest income.

We were hoping that some new good IBKR-like broker has occurred for this.

I simply don't understand why IBKR, an USA brokerage house after all, can give us access to Ireland domiciled UCITS ETFs on the LSE and other USA brokerages don't.

Yoir concern is very valid. Investing for the long run with only one viable broker is a natural risk. We are always one policy change from having to restructure in a much bigger way than US residents.

Whjat about Irish or UK based options?

Yes indeed. So far, in our 35 years of investing as non-US investors, we've used 4 different brokers.

We really don't care where the broker is domiciled. As long as it's a reliable broker that improves upon what we're getting now at IBKR.

Right now our decent options are 1. IBKR and 2. Schwab International.

We'd like to find a better #2 than Schwab.

You can look into SAXO Bank - they accept global clients. IBKR is certainly the best option when it comes to fees and platform features.
I use both to not have all eggs in one basket...

Thanks. I'm going to look into Saxo Bank. These days it's a good idea to have 2 stock brokers.
