Mcclung - Living off your money book, SWR & fees [UK]

Post by NotSoERN »

I've been reading lots of posts in both the US & Non-US sections relating to McClung's excellent book re the Safe Withdrawal Rate and Prime Harvesting, etc. I've not found any reference to investment management/platform/fund fees (which I expect most UK retirees will have to contend with) and how they impact SWR (unless I've missed something). Presumably these have to be taken into account as an 'expense' as everyone will have different fees to contend with? Just to note, total fees of 1% pa (say) don't necessarily equate to a reduction of the SWR by 1% (according to Okusanya in his less detailed but UK orientated book, book Beyond the 4% Rule, as the portfolio value reduces over time). I'd be interested to see any observations/comments about fees in relation to what McClung has to say. Thanks.
