TaxAct 2011 Online for $8 (Till Feb 29th)

Post by rr2 » Sat Feb 25, 2012 3:26 am

TaxAct Online Fed+State Online is now available for $8 till Feb 29th. Here is the link.

Unfortunately, I have already filed my taxes earlier this month for a $14 price which I thought was a very good deal. I am quite happy with it. Have already received my State refund and waiting for the Federal.

Thanks very much. I've already filed, but I have a friend who can use this.

TaxAct Delux seems to have fewer bells and whistles than TurboTax Premier but for me it was fine. I took their 3 year online access to return option which brought my total cost for Fed and State returns to $23. I received my State return within ten days. Still waiting for the Federal.

This is for online. Some people don't like to use online tax software, for privacy reasons. I'm not exactly clear but how would downloading the software really be much different? Wouldn't the efiling aspect still make the information available?

Print and mail the return prepared by the downloaded software.

If you "print" your return to a pdf, store it on drive and back it up (many free online places) you can save yourself these bucks.

You can't do the state without paying something.

I have "efiled" using Free Fillable Forms for the last several years so I'm not so concerned about that aspect. I guess I wonder why people would choose the downloaded version of tax software vs. online? Downloaded is always more expensive.
