Best Tips for Finding a New Job?

Any good suggestions for job-hunting tactics?

I'm tired of reading self-fulfillment psychology.

The best way to find a new job is networking. The old fashioned kind face to face. If you belong to any associations, go to their meetings and network. Talk to your friends, colleagues and people they know. New ask for a job, get to know them and let them know about you. Create a 60 second commercial to introduce yourself.

Unless you're the entrepenurial type, this is terrible advice. Many unemployed people end up draining what little savings they have, or go into debt, chasing the dream of self-employment.
