Philips Respironics [CPAP] Settlement Check received...

Post by Broken Man 1999 »

[Topic is now in Personal Consumer Issues - mod mkc]

The settlement checks for Philips Respironics machines have started flowing. In today's mail I received a check for $168.24. It is drawn on Huntington National Bank.

I was lucky enough to get a replacement very quickly thru my insurance, as CPAP machine was over five years old, and the shortage hadn't hit hard yet.

Later on, Philips requested I send the defective unit back, and then sent me a new replacement CPAP machine. I thought that was the end of it, until I received the check today.

I was actually filing for another class-action settlement involving Hillsborough County (FL) illegally collecting an additional sales tax when DW handed me our mail.

I filed for the Katz-Lacabe et al Oracle America earlier this month.

I did, too.

Mine was for $155.63.

Biggest class action payment I've received ever. I don't know what would be the "right" amount. In my own case, there was no obvious evidence of a problem with my original DreamStation, and I had it all registered and so on and actually received a replacement DreamStation 2 within perhaps eight weeks.

Arguably I suffered no harm at all. On the other hand, $155 is maybe, ballpark, 15% of the price of a typical new CPAP machine. Certainly not adequate compensation for anyone who had been inhaling visible dust, or had to wait a year or two for the replacement.

I registered/received a replacement. Did I need to do more to receive a check?

Sounds like checks came yesterday and today. Maybe yours on Monday?

I don’t recall the specifics of this settlement, but I don’t think there was anything to do beyond what you did.

I received a settlement check of about $150 from having used a Philips cpap machine, which was recalled. Should I cash this check? I know nothing about this class action lawsuit.

Have you tried googling it or visiting the settlement website? Did you buy a CPAP from this brand?
