Question for SoFi debit card users

Post by huzaing »

Hi,

I was looking at SoFi Money debit card because I had heard good things about it. But when I looked, it became quite confusing.

1. Does it reimburse ATM fees at *any* ATM, globally?

That's what I had heard, but no longer seems to be the case. Fine print at https://www.sofi.com/money/fees/
We’ve partnered with Allpoint to provide you with ATM access at any of the 55,000+ ATMs within the Allpoint network. You will not be charged a fee when using an in-network ATM, however, third party fees incurred when using out-of-network ATMs are not subject to reimbursement. SoFi’s ATM policies are subject to change at our discretion at any time. Accounts opened prior to June 8, 2020 will continue to receive reimbursement for all ATM fees under our prior policy.
2. Did you experience any foreign transaction fee with their debit card, either on purchases or ATM withdrawal overseas?

The fine print talks about a 1% FTF by Visa, even though they've converted to Mastercard:

Please note, though SoFi doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees, there is a foreign exchange fee of 1% charged by Visa that is not waived.
