Solo 401k Max Contribution Question
Solo 401k Max Contribution Question
I couldn't seem to figure this one out through searching online myself due to the scarcity of mentions of 401a plans. I know 403b contributions count toward the solo-401k employee contribution limit, but do 457b or 401a (either employee or employer contributions) count toward the solo-401k (employee/employer) contribution limits?
Re: Solo 401k Max Contribution Question
457b plans are not qualified and do not count toward the $19.5K employee limit.
401a plans are not elective and do not count toward the $19.5K employee limit. I'm not sure if they count toward the the $58K limit, but as long the W-2 401a employer is not a related employer (part of a controlled group) of the solo 401k employer (you) you could technically get up to $58K each into a W-2 employer plan and a solo 401k plan.
