Curious to see what the breakdown is...

1. What % of your net worth is in home equity (including vacation or rental properties to the extent you have them)?
Example: if you have $100k equity in your home and $1M net worth then 10%

2. How much is the total value of your owned real estate as a % of your net worth?
Example: if you own a $500k house and have a $1M net worth then 50%

Primary home and a second home used mainly for business housing purposes but useful for non pandemic a
Era vacation as it’s on a lake community.

Difficult to answer as the primary home is where we live and can’t be easily liquidated nor ever a personal desire to liquidate as this is our family’s forever and forever home. The taxation on the gains would be unbearable and the physical location could not be reproduced in the seattle region. The price that would need to be offered to entice us to leave would need to be >3X Zillow’s market assessment. We have turned down 2X offers as we would still have to buy a home and live somewhere. Home equity is not really taken into account for our retirement or wealth calculation.

(I feel like i have a lot of mortgages/mortgage debt (3 properties) but maybe it's not as bad as I 'felt' it was. I've never looked at it this way before.)

I don’t count real estate towards my net worth, but:

15% primary residence, paid for.

I’m co-trustee on a family beach home that’s worth nearly $2MM, too. So maybe that would boost it to somewhere @ 25% total.

About 55% for both currently.

Value of house doubled in 10 years and we've aggressively been paying it off. Still 10-20 years from retirement and it will likely be closer to 15-25% then.

Hmm. I don't know what our home and attached 25 acres are really worth. Let's say between 8%(cost basis) and 18% (developer knocks me over!) on a value basis, and between 7% and 16% on equity basis? (Retired several years ago, flyover country, rural/suburban location 20 miles from state capital building in burgeoning metro area...)

VTI [Total US Stock Index etf] - 46% of net worth
BND [Total Bond Index etf] - 32% of net worth
HOME - 14% of net worth
