Any pitfalls I should be aware of?

More than a few Canadian citizens consider themselves Americans. Are you asking about U.S. citizens buying homes in Canada?

Yes, I am. I did not know that some Canadians consider themselves Americans.

Yes, I am. I did not know that some Canadians consider themselves Americans.
Some from Latin America do as well. In some places "America" is thought of as continents. US as the country.
When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount.
