CV-19 Stimulus Bill Relief Pkg USA

Post by Pizza1945 » Wed Mar 25, 2020 7:16 pm

Hello
Quick question regarding CV-19 Stimulus Pkg:
Will the $1,200 per individual be going to the people who lost their jobs or wages “only” or will that allotted amount also be going to retirees living on and collecting SS?
Thank you!

Yes it will be according to this https://www.finance.senate.gov/imo/medi ... rance).pdf

Section 2201. 2020 recovery rebates for individualsAll U.S. residents with adjusted gross income up to $75,000 ($150,000 married), who are not a dependent of another taxpayer and have a work eligible social security number, are eligible for the full $1,200 ($2,400 married) rebate. In addition, they are eligible for an additional $500 per child. This is true even for those who have no income, as well as those whose income comes entirely from non-taxable means-tested benefit programs, such as SSI benefits

i make barely min wage . thank you

i never complain. some of us will be better off than others and i'm perfectly content with that

why should the unemployed be making twice as much as me ..
giving free money is a recipe for disaster .
i promise you that . just wait a few weeks

and this is coming from an employed person (NO benefits) making $12 an hour

Are the people who keep posting threads on pending legislation the same ones who refuse to stay at home?

This thread is off-topic (pending legislation) and is locked.

As noted in Re: Tax exempt muni bond funds & proposed lower rates on taxable investment interest, discussions about proposed or pending legislation (what will happen to implement the changes) is off-topic to "keep investors from making bad decisions. Pending legislation and proposed regulations change many times between the time they're introduced and signed into law."

The stimulus package is no exception. Based on past experience, discussions without clear direction will soon devolve into contentious disagreements.

The bill has been signed into law. This thread is reopened to continue the discussion.

I'm posting here because my thread got locked:

Can I hurry up and file a 2019 tax return now, or now that the bill is signed it's based on whatever you've done as of today -- 2018 if you haven't filed, 2019 if you have?
