Fullview Expense Transactions

I'm Switching from Quicken to Fullview this year for expense tracking. I can't seem to be able to enter a split value transaction to cover my needs. For example if I receive a $1,000 SS payment I want to record a medical insurance (part B) expense of $144.60 and gross income of $1,144.60. When I try to enter a negative (expense) value in a split transaction fullview won't accept it?

Has anyone found a solution to this?
