Capital One credit card statement late

Post by JDofAZ » Wed Aug 07, 2019 1:50 pm

I've had a credit card with capital one for many years and like clock work they generate my statement on the 29th, until now. When I log in to their website new charges are still being added to the billing period that started on June 29.

My assumption is this is something to do with the recent hack. Anyone else seeing this?

I typically pay the statement balance as soon as it is generated, so it is nagging at me a bit, but not yet enough to call them.

I don't use my capital one card other than for its no FTF feature. That being said, I still got the "$0 due" email from them recently (last week I think).

I just pay the CC off each time we get paid (15th and 30th). Don't care about the statement or the statement balance.

Do they have a "Chat with us now..." service?

They must be inundated with phone calls.

My guess is that the more likely reason is post office delivery problem - such as being stuck to someone else's envelope.

My experience and understanding is that many credit card billing cycles may not have a cutoff on the same day each month - for some reason, the cutoff may be a day or two different in each direction. I actually got my last Capital One statement (received several days before the end of July) a day or two or three earlier than usual.

This happened to me. They are in the middle of changing over some of their software and for some people statement close dates are changing. If yours was toward the end of the month it may be moving and you will wind up with an August statement that covers all of July and the part of June since your last statement.

You can call them to confirm (just use the number on the back of your card) but that may be what it is.

I opted for paperless, I'm looking at the website version.

I recently had a late charge because I did not receive my Exxon bill. I guess it was just lost in the mail, as I did receive one this month. As per Hanlon's razor

Sounds like the probable reason, thanks for sharing.

Yah, I just checked mine. They changed my due date from the 25th to the 5th. Not sure why. Don't really care. I'm set up for auto pay anyways. Maybe I'll pay manually ahead of time, just in case.

Yes - every now and then, we may not receive a statement in the mail, or one is received very late. My guess is the post office, because we often receive other folks' mail mixed in with ours. We, then, just drop it off at the correct address - but I can see that would be easy for the wrong recipient to miss it.

Yes, they are changing due dates. Do a search in your email trash bin and you might find the notice.

I haven't had any issue with my Capital One statements. My next statement should be coming out in the middle of the month.

Yes, they are moving my statement close and due date forward by about 12 days. After that, they said I can call and request to change it if it doesn't work out (after the systems upgrade.) I'm not concerned at this point. I receive an online statement so it's not a post office issue.
