Non-investing personal finance issues including insurance, credit, real estate, taxes, employment and legal issues such as trusts and wills

Hello All - I'm advised by my Solo 401k plan administrator I need an EIN for myself as employer for my 5500 filing. However, the online IRS application won't let you enter a date more than 25 years ago for the business start date (which mine is). I know there's discussion on whether you need this EIN, but assuming you do, has anyone else dealt with this? I'm unclear if it's just an online app limitation (makes no sense) or if there's some other prohibition on getting an EIN for a business that old (also makes no sense, and no such indication in the instructions). Am I just stuck doing this by mail or fax because the IRS has made a random limitation of business age for the online app? Thanks all!
