Caregiver liability policy

Post by jefmafnl » Wed Jun 12, 2019 12:40 am

My Mom is going into a memory care facility (in Palm Desert, California).

They will not allow her longtime caregiver to work with her there unless she has a million dollar insurance policy.

Can anyone recommend a good company that specializes in this type of insurance? Or should I just consult an "independent insurance agent"?

Thanks!

J

Would the facility consider hiring your mother's caregiver?

Probably not...the issue is allowing her to be there at all.

Had a similar insurance request from an assisted living facility we helped a friend move into. I called my local insurance agent and although he was able to get a policy the underwriter required the private caregiver get a master business license in our state (Washington) and a City business license plus furnish a resume. Took about a week to get coverage and cost around $1300/yr. Good luck.
