New Capital One 360 account offer

Post by dunkmachine » Wed Feb 06, 2019 9:58 pm

Hey guys, FYI (if allowed to share on here) I received an email offer to open up a new Capital One 360 money market account. Bonus of $200 for an account balance of $10,000-$49,999 or $500 for >$50,000 at 2.00% APY.

Promo code is CELEBRATE.

Same rate for my Ally savings so I just moved some money over tonight. Bonus is account balance at the end of 90 days.

The bonus has gotten a bit worse in that it now takes 90 days. They used to credit the bonus within 30 days.

The Chase checking offers seem quite a bit better, $500 with a direct deposit and (relative to this) modest initial balance.

Capital one is REALLY starting to lag other names, both in "bonus incentives" and interest rates

(all IMHO)

I opened a Capital One account a little over a year ago to get the $ 200 bonus. However, Capital One lags behind other internet banks in rates for "high yield" savings. Also, their CD rates are lower. I've been thinking of closing the account.

Do people here think it's worth it to open an account with them just for the $200. bonus?

I'm a bit worried mostly about the hassle and then of course an extra 1099 next year.
