ACA Tax Form 1095A for 2018

Post by EyeDee » Fri Jan 11, 2019 10:02 pm

.
Has anyone else noticed a problem with their 1095A Tax Form that just became available on Healthcare.gov accounts for download? In particular ours seems to be using the monthly premium for the lowest cost Silver plan instead of the second lowest cost Silver plan in the column: "Monthly second lowest cost silver plan (SLCSP) premium".

Rechecking the values at https://www.healthcare.gov/see-plans/#?year=2018 for 2018 plans I still get the same results as I got last year when researching things before signing up. Note: 2019 plans can be found at https://www.healthcare.gov/see-plans/ or https://www.healthcare.gov/see-plans/#?year=2019.

It could be that the simulation did/does not include a Silver plan that was even lower that was in the actual sign up that we did not notice as we had already decided on using one of the slightly higher cost plans, but the lowest plan in the simulator matches what the 1095A form says was last year's second lowest cost Silver plan.

Thanks for any information anyone can provide.

This is not the first time that the Marketplace has reported the wrong SLCSP. It also happened in 2014:
Some people who had coverage through HealthCare.Gov received a 1095-A form with one incorrect calculation on it. The “second lowest cost silver plan” on Part III column B used 2015 plan prices instead of 2014 prices. Other information on the form is correct. So any errors will be slight.

... We have been urging consumers to check the information on their forms – such as the number of people in your household – for accuracy. People who find errors on their form can contact the Marketplace Call Center at 1-800-318-2596 to find out how to request a corrected form.

Call and tell them to correct your 1095-A.

If you can't get it corrected before filing, you could also file with the correct numbers and wait for the IRS to send you a letter. Then you can send the IRS a print-out from healthcare.gov that shows the correct SLCSP.
