Does social security withholding "rollover"?

Post by stlrick »

I am currently receiving a spousal benefit from social security on a restricted application. I've filed online to switch to the benefit on my own record at age 70. The first check should be in September. I currently have 22% withheld. Does anyone know if that 22% will continue automatically when the benefit switches? I've read on another thread (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=247604) that the notification of approval might come only a couple of weeks before the first check, which would not be much time for the system to process a new withholding form, if that is what I have to do.
