Just an FYI, I saw that there was a small credit, $0.22, that hit my TD Bank account today and was very confused as to why. After some minor digging it was from using their Penny Arcade coin counting machine a few times over the years. So just wanted to let everyone know if anyone else is perplexed like I was. It was from a Class Action Lawsuit and no need to be alarmed that someone is trying to hack your account. It would have been nice to get an email heads up from TD Bank about it though!

Wow! In reading one link from OP's original link, the under-recording of the value of the coins deposited was as high as 15% according to a survey conducted!

Something of that magnitude should have been very evident to the bank, I would think. It isn't like the bank never removes the deposited coins in the counter. Plus they have the receipts that were exchanged. I can't believe that some true up wouldn't be performed.

Oh well, OP is 22 cents richer!

For the record, I am very thorough and particular, especially with money, so I always have a very good idea as to how much I was expecting my coins to be when the machine was finished so I didn't see any problems with it. Actually miss the coin machine service! ;-)

I've still got 100lbs of coins and am a lifetime TD customer....they took the machines away before I got around to using them.

DOH!!! CoinStar is still around in some grocery stores but as you probably know, they take a percentage of your haul.

Not sure where you are, but in NJ, Columbia Bank has coin machines. They charge a fee for non-customers.

In the survey (I assume) you are referring to, from one of the class action complaints, every recording worked in favor of TD and against its customers. You think the bank should have known? You do not think it was a coincidence? Without knowing what was revealed in discovery, I would very much agree.
