My parents set up a Coverdell ESA for me. Unfortunately, the funds were never withdrawn for educational purposes and I received a full distribution of the funds in the ESA. Accordingly, I received a 1099-Q for the distribution amount. How do I report the distribution but also show the basis? I'm currently using the H&R Block software and when I put the information for the distribution as shown on the 1099-Q, there is no box to show a basis. Can anyone help?
