Spent hours on phone with TT. They said it was Vanguard. Tried clearing history, rebooting, etc. etc. Will not allow brokerage download from Feb. 16, 2018, date TT allowed this to happen. Data available at VG. Anyone else have this problem?
If I was you I would have been manually entering the numbers while I was on hold, you would have been done a long time ago. Now my recommendation is to manually enter them while you wait for a helpful answer on this thread.
Mine downloaded fine but the brokerage data was full of errors. Wrong cost basis on some and multiple entries for phantom trades that never occurred. Just be sure to check what you downloaded.
No the downloading worked ok, as the data was wrong on the online version as well. Cost basis didn't match what I requested and was correctly reported on my monthly statement. It only gets screwed up when they create the 1099. Still unclear how they come up with non-existent trades they report on the 1099. They have told me in the past their software was (obviously still is) unable to correctly handle a merger in 2014 from which I received additional shares to ones I already owned.
They told me whenever I sold shares, to send them a secure message to confirm the shares I was selling in addition to using specific ID. So last year I did that but it has failed to make any difference. While they admit it's a problem in their software, they've refused to ever send me a correct 1099-B in prior years. I don't do much trading but it sure is annoying they can't handle cost basis correctly as required by the IRS.
I had this problem shortly after VBS posted the 1099 form on the web. I just assumed I was too early and entered the information manually. Warning, I imported my Fidelity by downloading into TT. It was successful but had me as the sole owner of a joint account. This was easy to fix manually.
