Thanks for the link. Too late now as it is $44.95 https://www.hrblock.com/tax-software/
But I will watch for sale.
Unless you need that AmEx credit, why not just use the OP's link? That's a decent price.
PC Download price for Deluxe on Amazon is $34.99

Yes, I know; for me it comes up $44 and change. Read my typing.

Doesn't really matter. $5-10 difference isn't a big deal. I don't chase every penny.

Not surprised. I normally just buy it when I am ready to use it in December. Getting close to time to true up for 2017. No ROTH conversion this year so it should be a layup.

And Amazon.com with the 5% bonus offer is down to $35 for the PC download. I'm almost tempted, but not yet.

I've tried it several times, and always $27.48. Very strange.

It wouldn't be the first time a company on the internet served up different prices to different customers. Probably won't be the last. On the other hand, it could be a glitch in their system.

Same for me when I clicked it again. Maybe $23.90 was the Black Friday price and $23.54 is the Cyber Monday price. The brief $34.99 was the Freaky Friday price. :?

The past two years there's been a thread on slickdeals for the deluxe version + 1 state + 1 state e-file for 14.95. If history repeats it should show up around mid-December to mid-January.

If you do not need the State addition, Amazon now lists download of the H&R Block Tax Software Deluxe 2017 (without state) for $19.11 (link below, select PC download).

Does deluxe handle everything? We file schedule C with home office, depreciation etc. I am fine without the handholding as long as the forms are supported 100%. Does it import taxact? No way I am paying taxact $64 this year.

We also do schedule C, home office, etc with Deluxe (not much hand-holding). I have no idea if it imports taxact.

A repeat of my earlier post

H&R Block...will import last year from Turbo, but not Act. But it did have a PDF import feature. I started my return with the PDF import of last years tax act. It never showed me what it was importing or had a QandA for the imports.

My first problem with it showed up right away. When I put in my state refund, it said that it was not taxable because I did not itemize last year. Well I did itemize. I noticed a check box on the bottom of the page labeled itemized last year. It was not checked. I checked it and clicked next. It said no tax since I did not itemize last year, having unchecked the box I checked. I looked on their help blog, and people report this problem each of the last several years at least, with NO resolution posted. Finally I look at the forms tab, and saw a form for imported data from last year, and boy was this a screwed up mess. Name SS and a few of the simple top of page items were correct, but the rest was all wrong or missing. I had to go through this form and fix everything, then it started working ok.

Yes, unless it's New York.

(NY prohibits paid tax preparers from charging a fee for state e-filing, and H&R Block/Turbotax/etc. all count as paid tax preparers).

Deal of the Day at Amazon today, 11/29. As I type this, the 2017 Deluxe + State + Refund CD, Windows download, and Mac download, are all $19.99. Other versions also available at a discount.

Great price! Just called HRBlock and they price matched my purchase last week to the Amazon price, and saved me 10 bucks....

Here is a strange issue, right now the draft tax table is not the same as the published 2017 tax brackets and thus my tax is off my $5

For example Income of 18,650 for MFJ, should be 10% right 1,865, Tax table is showing this for 1,863. For 75,900 tax should be $10,453
(10% of 18,650 plus 15% of 57,250). However the tax table is showing 10,459.

Is this an issue because of the draft tables, or are the tax brackets less precise?

Going to buy since I am tired of taxact shenanigans. Worst case I can mail in the state.

Remember to click through jetblue for 3x jetblue points/$ on amazon.

Alternatively, some Amex members may have a spend $30+ on H&R Block by 4/30/2018 get $10 back. If you have to pay for state e-file, probably better to do that.

But the deluxe at hrblock.com is $44.95, and $19.95 on amazon.

I file schedule C, home office 8829 and depreciation on form 4562. I am ok without the hand holding.

Here is the list of forms supported in 2016 deluxe (form 8829 is missing): https://www.hrblock.com/pdf/HRB-Online- ... deluxe.pdf

For 2017, it appears all downloaded versions support the same forms: https://www.hrblock.com/pdf/HRB-Desktop-Fed-Forms.pdf

So, is there a need for me to get premium or will deluxe work fine? I can double check all depreciation with taxact as that is usable before paying.
