I found a job in Singapore that looks really appealing to me. On the application, they ask for "Present Annual Base Salary", and later in the application, before my signature, it says "I declare that all the particulars given in this form and attached curriculum vitae are true to the best of my knowledge and belief, and I have not wilfully suppressed any material fact. I understand that any misrepresentation or omissions of information will render me liable to disqualification, or, if appointed, for dismissal."
I've been coached previously by other professionals and headhunters to not disclose your previous or current salary. What would you advise? It would be great to hear from someone who is familiar with Singapore's corporate practice. I wouldn't mind disclosing, but my current salary is very much below market. Loved my job for a long time, so I didn't mind the lower pay, but now I'm getting overworked and am looking for a change. My guess is that the equivalent pay in Singapore vs my current job would be anywhere from 2 to 3 times more. I can't imagine they'd try to pay me around what I pay now, as I couldn't live in such a high cost of living place, and it's possible they have salary ranges they need to stick to.
