HR Block Taxcut Pre-sale

Post by CAsage » Thu Nov 02, 2017 11:14 am

I got an email couple days ago to pre-order HRBlock Taxcut Deluxe with State for $34.95. Not a bad price, so I did. The first downloads are planned for November 10, so those of us that like to obsessively play with our taxes can start soon.

I note that all their 2017 tax software is available on their website at 35% off, which would currently be $38.47 for the Deluxe (5 free Federal tax files, one state download). I found that to be a decent price, so just sharing. YMMV.

Edit to add: I found a prior post (naturally, after the fact) that shows a massive price drop on Amazon Jan 1.... but I'm ok with any decent price, not going to wait until January for the super cheap sale). Price history on Amazon? Haven't used it....

Second edit: I declined the ridiculous charge to download the software in perpetuity....

Salvia Clevelandii "Winifred Gilman" my favorite. YMMV; not a professional advisor.

Also got that email, on 10/29, except the price was $29.95.

When I went to the link, the order form defaults in adding some type of protection plan for $5.99. I unchecked that option, but if I hadn't the cost before sales tax was close to what you posted. Maybe that was the difference. My order was $32.88 with TN sales tax.

BTW I plan to have beans for lunch as well. :D

My experience is that a better price will be available but if you want to explore scenarios before the end of the year this might be a decent deal.I wait to March before doing my taxes but that might not be your preference

I alternate tax years between standard deduction and itemized, and TY2017 is when I itemize. I bought last years software in January on Amazon. Buying this now means both purchases can be itemized. This would not be a deduction if I purchased it next year.

If you have less than 60K in gross you can get H&R block, Tax Slayer, and several others for free. Part of the Free eFile deal with the IRS.

I did it last year and it was actually better than the H&R block zero file and TurboTax free. It's basically the deluxe versions but fo free. Sometimes it tried to kick me out and make me do it through their normal website and pay at the end, but it works. It will even take a lot of forms that the regular version won't take (8889's and the such).

But that 60K cap will knock out quite a bit of people.

I need the bonus offer from Amazon or someone else, so that I get HR Block tax software in the end for free plus some extra money for the aggravation of using it.
