Social Security COLA could be 1.7% for next year

The August CPI figures were released today. August saw an increase primarily because of the big increase in Energy prices resulting from Harvey. The good news is it appears the Social Security COLA for next year will probably be 1.7%, assuming there's no large drop in next month's report (due Oct 13) which is the final one for determining the COLA. Of course some of that 1.7% increase will go toward paying the increase in Part B premiums for the "hold harmless" folks.
