Xmas bonus for Honorably discharged veterans

Post by Ron » Wed Aug 16, 2017 8:52 pm

I came upon this discussion on M* which discusses on-line purchasing of products by vets from the military exchanges, not only those that are military retirees:

I'm passing it on for those that are interested.

Starting November 11, 2017 all honorably discharged veterans will be able to shop online at all military exchanges.
No need to be Xmas shopping even! Any old winter holiday or reason will do just fine!!!

Excellent, thanks for the link.

I was verified at VetVerify.org.

Starting 11/11/17, I'll see if the prices are better than Amazon's :happy

Nice info. It took about two minutes to be verified, now I (Okay, really my wife) can add that to her normal shopping routine.

I'm a military retiree. My experience is that military exchanges are not the deals the once were. WalMart, Target, etc. are very competitive with them on many items. Of course you can still save on some items and there is no sales tax, a particular benefit for bigger ticket items. Not trying to rain on the parade, just trying to be realistic so there are not too many overly optimistic expectations.

I agree. I really only use the exchange for electronics since their prices are about the same as Costco or Amazon but I don't have to pay sales tax. Pretty much everything else can be found cheaper elsewhere.

"Your information cannot be found. " I served in the Army between 1966 and 1969. Any idea why my records can't be found? I have a copy of my DD214.

I'm in the same boat. Supposedly there was a fire in a Military Records center in the 1970's that destroyed a lot of records. There is a procedure at vetverify.com to try to remedy this if you get that error message. I submitted a request a few days ago.

It didn't appear that my record was affected by the fire but I submitted my request too. Thanks.

Nor was my records found (USMC 52-56)....probably lost in that 70s fire. I will try to get this verified as I have my original discharge papers in my bank safety deposit box.

After I signed up a couple of months ago, I hadn't paid much attention to it until my wife started looking at an iPad Pro. If anyone is thinking of buying a 10.5 inch one, they have a really good sale right now on the 256gb version. https://www.shopmyexchange.com/apple-ip ... fi/8587374 $639 total, about $100 cheaper than anywhere else I could find after taxes, so my wife has one on the way. Definitely worth checking into for the more expensive electronics, at least.

Sepmper Fi, Sheepdog Haven't checked yet, but may records may have been lost in the fire, too (USMC 56-60).
