2014 Amended Return
2014 Amended Return
Turbotax did not import my 1099-DIV correctly in 2014. I realized it late. I have already received the 2014 refund.
I corrected that in Turbotax and printed 1040X and MA CA-6 .However it also printed the corrected return. Totaling 70 pages!
1. Do I have to only send in 1040X to federal and CA-6 state to MA or the entire bunch?
2. Do I have to only attach the 1099-DIV which was not imported earlier or all attachments (W2, 1099-INT etc) again?

Re: 2014 Amended Return
I assume you mean the 1040X. All you send is the 1040X and any schedule that has changed. In your case it is probably Schedule B.
I always wanted to be a procrastinator.

1. 1040X, Schedule B, 1099-DIV to federal
2. MA CA-6, Schedule B, 1099-DIV to state?
Re: 2014 Amended Return
Sounds right but I am not familiar with CA requirements. Most states echo Federal requirements.

Re: 2014 Amended Return
You don't generally mail a copy of your 1099-DIV with your taxes, so I'm not sure why you would include it with your amended taxes. Presumably it was sent to the IRS in January 2015.ejvyas wrote:So 2 packets:Sidney wrote:I assume you mean the 1040X. All you send is the 1040X and any schedule that has changed. Re: 2014 Amended Return
Thanks all! LOL..I was sending everything to IRS all these years as Turbotax says it in its instructions "Be sure to attach the state copy of Form(s) W-2, W-2G, and any Form 1099 to your return."
I need to file paper returns as these tax softwares dont support international address e-filing. So finally I plan to send:
1. 1040X + Federal Schedule B
2. Mass CA-6 + State Schedule B

1040x does need to be mailed, but turbo tax handles electronic filing of 1040 for international now. Got my refund that way so am sure it works!ejvyas wrote: I need to file paper returns as these tax softwares dont support international address e-filing. So finally I plan to send:

What international address do you have? Is it 1099-INT, DIV or property?in_reality wrote:1040x does need to be mailed, but turbo tax handles electronic filing of 1040 for international now. Taxact allowed me to file Federal return online this time but wont allow for MA state return. Its a pain filing paper taxes.

Not to be evasive but I don't think country is related to the ability to file.ejvyas wrote:What international address do you have? I don't file a state return and so don't know if that is possible.
1099-INT
1099-DIV
Rental income
2555 FEIE
Sched B (cap gains/losses)
1116 (foreign tax credit for taxes paid by ETFs)
Might be wrong on form names, aren't looking at it now...maybe leaving something out.
It's the first year I've done it electronically. Didn't have the option before.
Re: 2014 Amended Return
I wasnt talking about the country name. I wanted to know what forms you were using. I see that Turbotax and Taxact have both allowed above forms with international addresses to be e-filed starting this year. However they did not allow me to efile state return.in_reality wrote:Not to be evasive but I don't think country is related to the ability to file.ejvyas wrote:What international address do you have?
