W2 ESPPD figure

Post by ejvyas »

My W2 includes ESPPD figure in box 14. Is that the figure I enter in Taxact as adjustment of ESPP tax basis in the textbox "Actual cost or other basis"?

Hard to tell. Does that number match your own calculation?

The IRS description of box 14 includes (see https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw2.pdf):
Employers may use this box to report information such as state disability insurance taxes withheld, union dues, uniform payments,
health insurance premiums deducted, nontaxable income, educational assistance payments, or a member of the clergy's parsonage allowance
and utilities.
Probably worth a call to your payroll department asking what the number represents.

Huh? It clearly says ESPPD so I'm sure it can't be anything else but espp discount.

I'm not sure how to calculate the figure on my own. Do I take the fair market value of the stock on the date of purchase?

We receive 15% discount on the lowest of 2 days (start and end)

"D = Discount" is certainly plausible....
