Maryland resident with 1099 MISC from DC

Post by math22 »

Hi,
i am a Maryland resident with W2 from Maryland.
I did one consulting job in DC and received a 1099 MISC from the DC customer.
Do I need to pay taxes in DC?
I know MD and DC have tax reciprocity for W2, but what about 1099 MISC? Will I end up paying anything to DC?

Thanks

DC doesn't have a non-resident tax, so you just report this on your MD tax normally.

It seems there is no agreement in the 2 answers above.
Anyone else from the DC metro that has experience on this?
Thanks!

I have a very similar situation. I live in Virginia and my W2 is from Virginia. I did consulting work in DC last year and had a 1099. My parents' best friend does our taxes and he informed me that I only had to pay Virginia taxes, the 1099 didn't mean I had to pay anything to DC due to the DC tax laws.
